Revised in 2024, this Child Care Foundational Training will prepare individuals to be successful in the role of a lead child care teacher in a child care setting. This will be accomplished by thoroughly examining the subjects of curriculum planning and activity selection in a developmentally appropriate early childhood environment. Additional topics to be covered include exploring strategies to involve parents and the role of observation in a developmentally appropriate program. Child guidance and professionalism are also further developed. This course fulfills one of the introductory noncredit course requirements as specified in the Department of Children and Families (DCF) 251 Licensing Rules for Group Child Centers. *This course is a Blended (Online/Virtual) Course. To participate in this course, you must: *Have access to a computer with a reliable internet connection. *Have a working webcam and microphone. *Be able to download, complete, and submit documents via email. *Be available to attend all three required virtual class sessions. *Be fully present and actively engaged throughout each class session. You may not work, drive, care for children, run errands, or participate in any other activity that prevents you from giving your full attention to the class. Students who are unable to actively participate may be removed from the session and required to re-enroll in a future class. Virtual class dates are: August 6, 2026, 5 pm-8:30 pm August 13, 2026, 5 pm-8:30 pm August 20, 2026, 5 pm-8:30 pm Attendance in all 3 virtual sessions is mandatory! You are required to complete online modules, required assignments, and assessments outside of class time.
